Safeguarding Adults (POVA)

This is a mandatory training course for all care staff. Protecting vulnerable people requires a number of key skills, attitudes and approaches. This course will help participants to identify the factors that can lead to abuse, giving them the confidence and knowledge to deal with concerns and abuse issues effectively.

 
A nurse led theoretical and activity based training course:
 
                    The role of national and local agencies in protecting vulnerable people
                    Human Rights and other legislation in care settings
                    Vulnerability & signs of abuse
                    Recognition of the factors which contribute to abuse
                    Definitions and indicators of the different types of abuse
                    Complaints and Advocacy services
                    Attitudes and approaches in care settings
                    Managing disclosure
                    Proceedure to follow if abuse occurs/is suspected
                    Confidentiality and whistle blowing
 
Certification for this course is valid for 2 years.
